Watering- Typically lawns need about one inch of water per week. If you are watering by hand or using any for of sprinkler system, it may be hard to determine how much water your lawn is actually getting. Especially when it is hot and not raining very often or, you want to know how long it will take for you to water by hand. A great tool would be using a guage, this will tell you how much your lawn is getting. Place a small container under the area you are watering, this will give you an idea as to how much water you grass is atually getting.

Mowing-  It is important for the health of your lawn to keep the grass at 3" length. In the hot summer, if the grass is cut too low it could end up being brown and dry looking, even if it is watered properly. It is also important to keep the blades shap to prevent jagged edges which it turn also prevent the grass from burning in the summer.

Fertilizing- There are two ways fertilizer can go in the summer time. If the roots are unstable and lawn looks unhealthy, fertilizer can damage the lawn further. The the roots are healthy and the lawn is looking fresh and full. Overall, it may be a good option to fertilize year round for the best results.

Weed Control- It is a great idea to use a weed killer when young weeds are beinging to sprout. Like fertilizer though, it is important that your lawn is in healthy sustainable condition to prevent the grass from burning further. If weed killing is necessary try to apply in temperature below 85 degrees for best result.
