What is aeration? - The process of creating holes in the lawn allowing the circulation of air. It also relieves compation of the soil and imporves the movement of water and nutirents needs for a healthy lawn. What is overseeding? - The process of laying seed in the holes created through the aeration process to promote new growth. When should you aerate and seed? - The best time for aeration and overseeding is in early Fall. The lawn should not be too dry because it would not be effective in penetrating the soil. It should also not be too wet, such as after a rain storm, because it can also be ineffective. The temperature also plays a major role in the germination process for the seeds. If it is too hot, or too cold, the grass can either become more weed-like or in some cases, not grow at all. Why is it important to aerate? - The process is a way to maintain a healthy lawn while strgthening the grass from the roots. This keeps the lawn looking fresh and lush through the season.
