Gardenin' Angels continues to cover the landscaping needs of the South Shore recently working in Brockton, Braintree, the Bridgewaters, Taunton, Lakeville, Easton, Whitman, Holbrook, Stoughton, Randolph, Canton, Sharon, Rockland, Weymouth and Milton. Everywhere we go, people are asking about spring lawn care...in particular, mowing, watering and fertilizing. Here are some suggestions: MOWING: Avoid letting your grass get too long before mowing. Otherwise, your turf blades will get temporarily ruined and your lawn will have a "scalped" appearance. Never mow more than a third of your lawn height. Suggested mower setting for spring is 2 to 2.5 inches. WATERING: Frequency and quantity of watering depends on your lawn type, soil composition and rain. Your existing lawn should get 1/2 hour of water per week. New lawns should not be allowed to dry out. FERTILIZING: We are licensed to apply a balanced granular fertilizer with pre-emergent crabgrass control along with spot treatment of broadleaf weeds. This application will improve your lawn's color in 1-2 weeks. Weeds will begin curling up in 1-2 days and slowly decline. Some broadleaf weeds may germinate after the treatment but can be re-treated at the next fertilizer application in 6-8 weeks. Normal rainfall will water this treatment into the soil. Questions?
